Climate impact

At KoRo, we analyse the greenhouse gas emissions that are produced during the production of our snacks. These include, among other things, CO2, methane and nitrous oxide. Our hard-working sustainability team collects all the information to calculate a value: the so-called CO2 equivalents. We are now passing this information on to you so that you can make informed purchasing decisions and keep an eye on your personal carbon footprint. We also use these valuable findings ourselves, to try to make our supply chains even smarter in the future and monitor our CO2 footprint.

CO₂ emissions by product

To make the work of our sustainability team easier, we have teamed up with the company Cozero. They support us with their decarbonisation software to calculate the CO2 emissions of our products. Our products go through a lot before they make their way into your pantry or snack bowl, so there is a lot to take into consideration: production, packaging, and logistics – to name just the big steps.

CO₂ emission per product in comparison

Would you like to find out how well your favourite snack stacks up against other products in terms of carbon footprint? Say no more! To create comparability, we calculated the CO₂ emissions per 1 kg of our products and compared them with other products that end up on many people's plates every day, such as cheese, tofu, and many more. We also included coffee as a drink for comparison. So no matter if it is your favourite snack or your go-to kitchen product, you are now able to see exactly how it performs in our “CO₂ per kg of product” ranking.

Comparison of CO₂ emissions per product in kg

Disclaimer: Different methods (comparison products) - The CO2 emissions of the non-KoRo products come from a different data source. Therefore, there may be differences between their evaluation method and the evaluation of KoRo products.

Varieties & origins

Goji-Beeren_Grading

Chinese wolfberry

The tree called Lycium chinense comes from the region of Hebei in China, and is distinguishable by its red-orange colour. The fruits are 15-50 mm in size and weigh between 0,7 and 1 gram. Their taste is sour and slightly tangy. Lycium chinense can be eaten raw, but it is actually perfect for drying, as its juice content is very low. There are numerous sub-varieties such as the top variety No.1 Lifeberry, or the variety called L22 or NQ1.

The Wolfberry original home is unknown. Its distribution ranges from Southeast Europe to China, which is responsible for 99% of global Goji berry production. The main growing area is the Ningxia region, with an area of 180,000 hectares. From here, 40 percent of the total production is exported to the rest of the world. In recent years, the market for Goji berries has reached total sales of $ 35 million.

We are disappointed with the delay in shipping the order.

Unfortunately, the order has still not been dispatched, even though we placed it on 08/06/22. We deeply regret this situation, as we are professional customers and are disappointed by the lack of response to our requests.

Delicious sources of iron, can be soaked overnight if they are too hard for you in muesli/porridge

Goji berries were recommended to me by a nurse because I had poor iron levels after an operation due to blood loss. I ate them for a few weeks and my levels were back to normal. It must have helped me. I didn't even have to take iron tablets. Since then I've almost always had them at home instead of food supplements, so to speak :)

Great - Very reasonable price

I'm glad they are no longer in the 'most-fashionable' window, it is true that in the last decade their price has increased significantly, it gives me a confidence that I understand 'necessary' today, that comes certified 'bio' I like to take a handful along with some cocoa beans I have tried from various marketers, and I like to recognize its taste more 'wild', herbaceous (taken alone, sometimes they are somewhat annoying by 'sticky' or adhesive).

Super tasty, top quality

Slightly firm to the bite and pleasantly mildly sweet. Gojis are a must in my porridge. Great value for money. I'll be ordering them again. Thank you KoRo!
