Our sixth sense tells us that when you immediately have images of delicious pasta dishes in your head or the smell of freshly baked bread in your nose. But far from it, this is about something completely different, namely: Seitan! A delicious vegan substitute made from wheat which will swoon you!

Seitan: The flexible plant-based meat substitute

Seitan is a product made from gluten. Gluten is a wheat protein and a natural component of the popular grain. The gluten is obtained when water is mixed with wheat flour and the starch is washed out. Refined, isn't it? The gluten mass can then be used to cook all kinds of tasty things, and of course we at KoRo can't keep that from you: We have added oats, sunflower oil, flour and spices to the wheat protein and formed it into a piece of grandiose enjoyment: the vegan organic seitan steak in the natural variety!

Use seitan steak as a meat alternative

With our seitan steak, you get steak-like seitan in one piece, in contrast to the KoRo seitan schnitzel in a jar. Whether you put it on the grill whole or chop it up is entirely up to you. Small tip: Similar to tofu, you can marinate the seitan steak wonderfully and give the product your very own touch! Or you can cut the meat alternative made from wheat gluten into 1.5 cm thick strips and fry them in a pan with a little oil over medium heat for one and a half minutes per side. Alternatively, you can brush the seitan strips with a little oil and place them on a baking tray in the oven at 150¬į C (top and bottom heat) for 14 minutes. Or you can shred the steak and cook a seitan ragout, seitan medallions or a seitan vegetable stew! Looking for a seasoned version? Yep, the plant-based steak is best suited for a vegetarian or vegan diet.
Yes. Our organic seitan steak contains textured soy, i.e. the basic soy product.
You need 1 kg of flour, 750 ml of water, a bowl, a dough hook and a little patience. First mix the flour with the water using the dough hook and then let the dough rest for at least 30 minutes. Then add plenty of water to the dough and knead the ball of dough. Kneading washes out the starch, which can be seen in the white water that comes out. Repeat the process with fresh water until the water remains clear. Et voilà! Afterwards, the further processing method of your choice (e.g. boiling, baking) determines the firmness and taste of the seitan. Too much work for you? We understand. Make it easy on yourself and order organic seitan in a jar!
Our seitan steak in the natural variety contains a whole 21 g of protein per 100 g and is therefore rich in protein!
You need to know: Gluten is basically tasteless, as it consists only of wheat protein extracted from the wheat-water mixture. However, if you add spices, you get an aromatic, hearty and firm product that can be used wonderfully as a side dish or meat substitute.
Yes, we only use ingredients of organic origin in the seitan steak!
Unopened and in its original packaging, the vegan steak will keep at room temperature for at least 18 months. Once opened, you should store it in the fridge (0¬į C to 6¬į C) and consume it within 48 hours.

Very good crispy taste

Unexpectedly discovered in the Advent calendar and now reordered. Simply fried briefly in the pan, it's great as a topping for a dish or just as a snack. Really delicious!



Good, bulk packing would be appreciated

Very filling, a bulk pack of 500g to 1kg would be appreciated. For mealprepping this is not convenient.

Good taste, consistency could be improved

Tried today, as fried steak strips. Become crispy quickly, typical seitan flavor. Somewhat mealy in texture for my taste. Can't be marinated with significant results, but taste great with sweet Bavarian mustard. Probably versatile, such as a goulash or fried cubes over a vegetable dish. Excited to see what else I come up with. Will buy again.
