Vegan protein powder or whey protein: which is better?

Whey protein powder contains whey protein, which is obtained from cow's milk. The advantage: Whey protein is a readily available source of protein, as it contains all essential and non-essential amino acids. Especially the three branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), which are particularly important for muscle building. These are valine, leucine and isoleucine. Whey also has a high biological value. This describes the efficiency with which the ingested proteins can be converted into the body's own proteins. However, a high biological value does not automatically mean a high quality of the food, but only serves as an indicator for the variety and the occurrence of contained amino acids. It can, however, serve as an aid in the assessment of protein-rich foods.

In contrast, vegan protein powders consist only of plant-based ingredients. This means that no animal products are involved, and the powders are also lactose-free and therefore suitable for lactose intolerants. Soy protein is one of the few complete protein sources in plant-based nutrition. This means that it has a complete amino acid profile and therefore contains all the amino acids that are essential for humans. Soya protein is therefore in no way inferior to whey protein in this respect.
