Whether for falafel, hummus, or vegan curry, chickpeas have become an indispensable part of our culinary lives! And that's a good thing - we cannot imagine a life without them. With their slightly nutty, buttery taste, these versatile and delicious legumes are a must-have in your kitchen which you can now buy in a practical 2-kilo bag!

Chickpea – the Oriental legume

Even if the name suggests it, chickpeas are not related to peas. A member of the legume family, chickpeas play a major role in countries such as North Africa, India, the Middle East, and all Arab countries, where they are considered the quintessential staple food – truly nutritious and inexpensive. In the meantime, the delicious legumes are known all over the world, and the Oriental specialties associated with them are more than just a trend: falafel wraps have long become a classic – not only here in Berlin! And hummus, one of the world's most popular bread spreads, especially among vegans, can nowadays be found in literally every supermarket. No matter what your favourite is, our organic chickpeas provide you with a 2-kilo stock for all your chickpea adventures! Whether you are planning to cook for your family and friends, or simply love chickpeas – you're all set.

Great source of plant-based protein

In our bag you will find 100% chickpeas: no preservatives, flavourings, or colourings, which, as you hopefully know, we always try to avoid. Therefore, our chickpeas are purely plant-based and of course vegan. With 19 grams of protein per 100, which makes them a real protein bomb, the little round legumes are also very high-fibre and extremely versatile. Last but certainly not least, they come from certified organic cultivations!

Recipes with chickpeas

Chickpeas can be used in many ways. Whether in curries, salads, turned into hummus, as a snack – there are countless recipes which include, or are even based on, chickpeas! How about a falafel wrap or baked carrots with hummus? Being true chickpea fans, we have enriched our product selection of many versions of the beloved legumes: as a spread, a snack, ground into flour, or fusilli-shaped, chickpeas really make us always happy! And did you know that you could even use them to make delicious and low-carb desserts too, like the popular blondies? But wait, let us calm down: in our enthusiasm, we completely forgot to tell you how to best prepare our chickpeas! Ideally, you should soak them overnight – at least 12 hours – in two to three times the water, and simply boil them in fresh water for about 90 minutes (the cooking time will of course be faster if you use a steamer). Well, if you are looking for a bulk-sized pack, you probably already know your way around and how you want to use the chickpeas. So all you have to do now is buy our organic chickpeas in the advantageous 2-kilo bag and have them comfortably delivered at your door!

Questions & answers: Organic chickpeas 2kg
No search results.
In normal quantities, the consumption of our chickpeas does not bring any undesirable side effects. However, it is true that chickpeas contain small amounts of the dietary fiber raffinose. This triple sugar can lead to gas formation in the human intestine, which is why sensitive people may well react with flatulence. As long as you keep your consumption within normal limits, however, you can enjoy the legumes without hesitation.
Our chickpeas have 335 kcal per 100 g and 19 g protein - real protein bombs! All other nutritional values can be found next to our product description.
You should first soak the chickpeas for 12 hours, preferably overnight. The next day, dispose of the soaking water, rinse them briefly and you're ready to go. To do this, put the chickpeas in hot salted water and boil them for about 90 minutes.
Dried chickpeas are quite long shelf life! However, you should make sure that they are hermetically sealed and a cool and dry place! In the unopened original packaging, the chickpeas last at least 18 months!
Yessss!!! Every single chickpea comes from organic farming. We do completely without preservatives, dyes and flavors, so you get 100% chickpeas with us.
Chickpeas are mainly used for hummus, falafel or in curries. But also in salads or as a roasted snack, the legumes are a real gamechanger! Check out our Food Journal, where you will find numerous recipes with chickpeas!

Varieties & origins

Relatively round, large, and smooth, Kabuli chickpeas are golden/beige, and are grown mostly in the Mediteranean area, South America, and South East Asia. Most of the chickpeas we consume in Europe are of this variety. They have a gentle and nutty taste.

India is one of the main producers of chickpeas; in 2017, 67% of the world harvest came from India. No wonder, since these protein-rich legumes are a staple in India. Other important growing areas are Australia, Myanmar, Ethiopia, and Turkey. The 10 largest producers bring in 92% of the world crop, and in 2017 more than 14 million tons of chickpeas were produced worldwide.

In subtropischen Gebieten beheimatet

Kichererbsen wachsen an krautigen Pflanzen
Kichererbsen wachsen an krautigen Pflanzen

Bereits in Steinzeit angebaut
Bereits in Steinzeit angebaut

1-3 star reviews 🙃

Not consistently good quality

I have ordered the chickpeas several times. Mostly they were good, Unfortunately, I have also had some with dark spots and stains and not always KoRo has been accommodating, because I could not prove the correct storage. But most of the orders were ok.

A must for your stock and your wallet

Even boiled down, the 2 kg of chickpeas cannot be topped with canned alternatives. Especially as I can't get an affordable organic version in my local sAchnelleinlif around the corner. With this pack, I have almost 30 jars in my portion sizes in no time at all at a fraction of the ready-made price

Good packaging

Very good price and performance ratio

Great at a good price

Good quality chickpeas. A little smaller in size but no problem with that.

Great price for a great product

I processed the chickpeas in exactly the same way as I usually do with conventional supermarket chickpeas, but they still turned out differently. They are nice and soft and great for making hummus, and the shells come off very easily. When thickening the aquafaba, my kitchen smelled very strong, which is the only negative thing I noticed.

Small and good

Small but excellent , bought several times, being many, at home then I divide them into vacuum packs.

perfect product

super easy to prepare in the pressure stove and super tasty :) would find it even better if it could completely do without long transportation routes (Germany, Austria,...)

Organic, 2 kilos and for the price... Hammer... Thanks

I am very satisfied, price ratio is great, it is organic and more than 1 kilo. I love chickpeas in all variations ( humus, tofu, falafel....). I need to order more now for friends and family. They were a little miffed because I don't give anything away....

Good purchase ratio

Good value for money, I am especially interested that they are organic, to avoid eating pesticides that might remain on the peel.

Good price performance ratio

Good product. Meanwhile, the chickpeas are supplied in a paper-like packaging. One star deduction because this was burst open.

Chickpeas are mega

Very cool that they are wrapped in paper.
