Preparing millet

Millet is super easy to prepare and extremely versatile. Before cooking it, you should rinse it under cold water, preferably in a fine sieve. After rinsing, the millet is ready to cook. A thumb rule is using millet in a 1:2 ratio with water. Usually water or broth is used, but you can also use plant drink depending on the recipe. Compared to other types of cereal, the cooking time is relatively short, about 5 minutes. Finally, you should allow the millet to swell for about half an hour. Now you can do whatever you want with it! It works with sweet and savoury dishes. Use it as a base for a nutritious bowl or add it to a stew. How about a millet curry or risotto? You can also use it as an ingredient in bread and it is a great alternative to rice, quinoa or couscous.
