Soft jackfruit 350g

Jackfruit originates from southern India and belongs to the mulberry family. Today the fruit is cultivated mainly in Southeast Asia. Our jackfruit is harvested in Thailand. The exotic fruit can reach a length of up to 1 meter. Because of its heaviness, the fruit grows directly at the trunk of the tree.   

In its growing regions the jackfruit is mostly consumed as a sweet dish or roasted and enjoyed as crunchy crisps. The taste of the ripe fruit reminds of banana and pineapple. However to become a valid meat substitute, the jackfruit is harvested unripe and then immersed in a brine. Marinating the unripe, neutral tasting fruit with some spices you can easily imitate various meat dishes. You should keep in mind though, that the hard fruit fibre only gets softer after cooking it.  

Our Jackfruit if free from lactose, soy and gluten. Containing less than 1 g of fat per 100 g, jackfruit is perfect for a low fat diet. Furthermore jackfruit is also a source of fibre. Thanks to our vacuum packaging it is durable up to 18 months, if not opened. 

Jackfruit is - depending on the seasoning - the perfect alternative to meat burgers, sandwiches, tacos or others.
