Cultivating, caring for and harvesting this variety is significantly more labour-intensive, which is why they are more expensive than Deglet Nour, for example. It is best to store Medjool dates in a cool, dry place. If you haven't eaten them all within a few days, you should store them in the fridge. This will ensure they stay fresh for as long as possible and remain fresh for up to 24 months after harvesting.

Note: If you have stored your dates for a long time, fructose may accumulate on the outside of the fruit. You can recognise this by light-coloured spots. However, the dates are still fresh and can be eaten.
