White beans – how to

You don't really have to do anything other than put hot water on and throw the beans in. The cooking time is usually about 60 minutes – but can be shortened if you soak your beans first. Not only will they cook faster, they will also be more digestible. One thing you should not underestimate is the salt. With pasta, rice or potatoes, you usually add salt to the water beforehand. With white beans, you add the salt at the end – otherwise the outside of the beans will remain hard as a rock. This makes the beans even easier to digest.

Whether it's a stew, salad or soup – you can actually serve or add white beans to any dish. Legumes in general are real all-rounders! Your first thought will probably be white beans in tomato sauce, right? Delicious! But white beans are also great for chillies, curries and in Asian-inspired dishes! Baked beans – the classic

We love baked beans! They are part of a typical breakfast in Britain, and are also a must at BBQs in the USA. We tell you how you can make baked beans yourself - very easy and very quick to do.

You need:

  • 250 g KoRo white beans
  • 1 tin of peeled tomatoes 
  • 2 tbsp. cane sugar
  • 1/2 tbsp. mustard
  • 1 onion
  • Your favourite spices: e.g. bayleaf, saltpepper


First, soak the white beans in cold water overnight. The next day you can start right away. First boil the soaked beans for about 30 minutes, drain the water and put them aside. Then chop the onion, fry it and as soon as it is translucent, add the rest of the ingredients, including the beans. Now let the whole thing simmer for about 30 minutes and your homemade baked beans are ready.
