What is the advantage of whole grains to ground spice?

The whole grains have a relatively hard shell and thus retain their flavor much longer.

Why should I not buy already ground pepper?

The advantage of whole peppercorns is that when freshly ground with a pepper mill, the full flavor remains and no spiciness is lost.

How hot is black pepper?

Comparing the different colored pepper, the black pepper is our golden mean. Not super hot like the white pepper, but also not as lukewarm as the green.

What is the difference between green, black, white and red pepper?

Green, black, white and red pepper are harvested from the same plant. The only difference is the degree of ripeness. Green pepper are the unripe fruits, which are then usually pickled. To obtain black pepper green pepper must be dried and fermented. White pepper is also harvested as a green-orange fruit, but then watered and at the end the outer shell is removed. Red pepper, on the other hand, is the fully ripe fruit.
