Accepted Answer

Yes, hazelnuts, just like macadamia nuts, are among the nut fruits. Hazelnuts grow on the hazel bush, the so-called "common hazel". The edible seed is surrounded by a woody pericarp that must first be cracked. Besides us humans, mice, birds and squirrels also love hazelnuts. They are a helpful source of food, especially in autumn and winter.
