Question 1

What is pesto?

Accepted Answer

Pesto comes from Bella Italia and is an uncooked, pasty sauce that is usually served with pasta. However, its use is enormously varied, because pesto is also unbeatably delicious with salads, to refine sauces and on pizza.

Question 2

How are pistachios processed after harvest?

Accepted Answer

We can already tell that you are particularly curious today! After harvesting, fruit flesh residues are removed with the help of a water rinse and subsequently dried. In the second step, a water bath is used to make the ripe pistachios sink to the bottom. Unripe pistachios remain on the water surface. Following another drying process, the pistachios are transported to silos where they are stored. Small but important info: The drying process causes the pistachio shell to crack, making them easier to eat.

Question 3

Is the pistachio pesto vegan?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Our green pesto is vegan because we chose nutty pistachios instead of hard cheese. By the way: In our store you can also find other vegan pestos like our Pesto Rosso, Pesto Verde and organic pesto with Tuscan kale.

Question 4

How can I make pistachio pesto last longer?

Accepted Answer

You can make your pesto last a little longer by smoothing it out in the jar with a clean spoon and covering it with a layer of olive oil. This prevents oxygen or other environmental influences from reaching the pesto.

Question 5

How should I store the pistachio pesto?

Accepted Answer

Unopened, our green pesto feels at home in a cool and dry place protected from light and has a minimum shelf life of 12 months. However, as soon as you want to enjoy pistachio pesto and open the 190 g jar, the pesto should be stored in the refrigerator and preferably consumed within 7 days.

Question 6

How many calories does 100 g pistachio pesto have?

Accepted Answer

100 g of vegan pistachio pesto has 716 kcal.

Question 7

What is special about vegan pistachio pesto?

Accepted Answer

With an impressive 60% pistachio content (the rest is a mix of sunflower oil, salt, pepper and sugar) and a creamy consistency, you are guaranteed a touch of Italy in pasta dishes as well as meat and fish dishes. And in addition: Our pesto is mixable with cream or cream alternatives for a variety of recipe ideas.
